El Tablao de Carmen was born 10 years ago to keep the tradition of flamenco alive. El Tablao de Carmen was created in memory of the famous dancer Carmen Amaya, who was born in 1915 in Somorrostro, the area now called Vila Olimpica. El Tablao de Carmen stands in the very same place where Carmen Amaya performed for the fi rs t time in 1929 (the year of the International Exhibition) for King Alfonso XIII on the opening day of Poble Espanyol in Montjuic.
El Tablao de Carmen is located inside the Poble Espanyol, in the tourist area of Montjuic which is one of the most beautiful and characteristic areas of Barcelona .
The place is tastefully decorated in the typical Andalusian style.
